Fireside detroit lakes mn menu11/4/2023 ![]() It came rare and the slight amount of hashbrowns were burnt. Extremely bummed out that they can charge the prices they do because they sit on a lake.Granted it was New Year's Eve but not busy there.our service was great but I ordered a steak, medium-medium well. I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. Bill was $202 dollars and was by far some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten before. it took her about 15 mins to grab us a bottle of wine. By far the best thing we received that whole night. I loved the dressing and simplicity of the salad. And then we all got the ceaser salad as one of our sides and that was DELISH. We then got the au gratin potatoes as a side and those were also so sweet, not sure what they put it in to make it have that sweetness to it. and my husbands tenderloin had a sweet flavor to it. my moms walleye was so fishy tasting, I’m assuming it must’ve been a little old. My chicken literally had no flavor, by far the most boring piece of chicken I’ve ever eaten in my life. I had the Parmesan encrusted chicken, mom had the Parmesan encrusted walleye and husband had the pork tenderloin. the rice cakes actual tasted pretty decent besides the rice was still a little hard and was very salty. Chicken meatballs were so flavorless and odd. we ordered the walleye wild race cakes and chicken meatballs. We first started with a couple appetizers. Went there lastnight with my husband and mother and wasn’t impressed at all. Dinner with one cocktail with tax but before tip was $91, which I consider a fair price for the quality of the meal. We were made to feel welcome and thanked by several of the staff as we left. Service was friendly, helpful and prompt. ![]() ![]() Strawberry shortcake for him for dessert. We also got a small loaf of warm herbed bread served on a cutting board. He said it was possibly the best walleye he hd ever had. My spouse had a dinner entree and opted for squash soup, potato and a vegetable with his pan fried walleye. ![]() Both were very fresh, very good and entirely satisfying. I was not ravenous, so opted for the arugula salad to start and the ahi tuna "starter", served rare with a ginger sauce and some micro greens, as my main dish. The menu was broad with many items that wounded good to us. There were several tables for big groups and most of those were occupied by people celebrating birthdays. The room is apretty with huge picture windows around the room looking over the Lake. Our hotel was nearby and we were very fortunate to get a last-minute reservation for dinner here on a Saturday night, although it was quite late, 8:30 pm before they. We had not visited Detroit Lakes before, so we were not familiar with the restaurants. This seemed to be a very busy Thursday night at the Fireside so perhaps it was also just an “off” night and we will try again when we next visit DL. My battered shrimp were delicious as usual but little disappointed that for $31 dollars you only serve three ! The lemon cake dessert, as recommended by our server, was delicious as were the cocktails we ordered. My husband had ordered his filet medium, asking for a hot, pink center and it was served very, very rare, in fact bloody ! He NEVER, under any circumstances, will send food back ! So he ate it but did make the comment that it definitely was not an 8oz. Our Caesar salads had very little dressing on them, the AuGratin potatoes I had were very dry, a disappointment as I always look forward to them as being creamy and delicious. Our only other disappointment I have to say was the food itself this time around. When our waitress arrived we asked if we might be moved and she didn’t hesitate but kindly helped us do so. Table not even close to a window view and after being seated we noticed an empty table right by the window. When we arrived we mentioned to the hostess that we had a reservation and she looked at the list and seemed to be discussing it with another staff person. We had made a reservation in advance and asked, if possible, to be seated next to, or close to, a window so as to enjoy the amazing view. Sadly on our last visit to The Fireside celebrating our anniversary it was not our usual experience.
